Dock and truck turnaround time on warehouse CCTV
· Updated · Slinai
Key facts
| Clock | Apron arrival → bay work → departure, per bay |
|---|---|
| What still owns the load | TMS and the gate log — video confirms the wait they do not see |
| First cameras | The bays that already miss the detention target, plus the apron queue |
| Hub case-study | 24% faster dock TAT cited when teams act on bay waits — validate in UAT |
| Not this post | Rider handoff, fence intrusion, warehouse PPE, or carton damage |
A gate log says the truck arrived. It does not say the trailer sat for forty minutes with the door shut.
Slinai times that wait on existing CCTV and can sit beside the TMS through data & integrations. The use case is operations & productivity. Hub: logistics video analytics. A two-wheeler at a grocery door is rider-bay handoff, not this clock.

Split the wait before you blame the carrier
| What the camera shows | Meaning | Wrong conclusion |
|---|---|---|
| Queued on the apron, bay empty | No door assigned, or the bay is blocked | “The carrier was late” |
| At the door, no forklift | Labour or MHE is the constraint | Detention invoice to the driver |
| Unload in progress | Work time, not idle | Add it to the carrier scorecard |
| Load done, truck still there | Paper, seal, or nobody waved them out | “The warehouse is slow” |
Draw one polygon per bay plus one for the apron queue. Do not draw one polygon for the whole building.

How to move the bay without a carrier argument
- Alert the dock lead, with bay number and minute, and a clip.
- Say queued, idle-at-door, working, or done-not-gone. Those are different fixes.
- Pull a forklift from a calm bay. Do not “coach the carrier” until the clip shows the warehouse was ready.
- After the shift, join dwell to the TMS appointment. A truck that was early and a truck that was held are different scorecards.
Agentic question that fits: “Which bay held trucks longest this morning?” If the answer is a carrier name with no clip, the zones are wrong.
The industry page cites 24% faster dock TAT when teams act on this. That is a case-study figure. It is not a promise, and it assumes someone still moves the labour.

What this is not
- Not dark-store rider handoff or QSR aggregator pickup. Those clocks are minutes at a door. This clock is a truck and a bay.
- Not factory line throughput. A station inside a plant is not a dock door.
- Not plant perimeter. The fence is a different alert route from an assigned bay.
- Not dock load verification. This clock does not count pallets against a manifest.
- Not warehouse PPE or carton-damage detection. Both stay on the logistics hub until they are their own jobs.
Book a demo on the two bays that already miss detention, plus yesterday’s TMS appointments for those doors only.
Common questions
Does this replace the TMS or the gate log?
No. The TMS owns the shipment and the appointment. The gate log owns who was waved in. The camera owns how long the trailer sat with nobody at the door.
Is this the same as a dark-store rider bay?
No. A rider bay is the last minute of a grocery order. This is a truck at a warehouse bay, often an hour of detention, with a forklift as the constraint.
Can the camera name the carrier?
Not reliably from a number plate. Join the TMS or the gate entry so the dwell is 'carrier B, bay 4, 14:10' rather than 'a truck'.
Is a parked truck an intrusion?
No. Perimeter is a person or vehicle crossing the fence. A truck in an assigned bay is turnaround time, even at night, if that bay is on the schedule.
What about thrown cartons?
That is package handling, still on the logistics hub. This post does not score damage. A slow bay and a thrown box are different chats.
