Footage that stays where policy requires

Define where primary recordings live, how long they retain, and who may request remote access. Built for DPDP-minded Indian enterprises and industries with strict CCTV governance.

How does Slinai handle data residency?

Slinai Edge lets primary video remain on-premise or in a customer-controlled data centre. Cloud components — if enabled — can be limited to metadata, events, or India-region hosted services. Retention, encryption, role-based access, and audit logs support DPDP-aligned operating procedures. Slinai does not sell facial recognition identity databases.

What Data residency delivers

Residency profiles

Local-only, hybrid, or cloud — chosen per site or camera group, not one global blunt setting.

Retention policies

Different retention for sales floor vs cash office vs perimeter — aligned to insurer and internal rules.

Encryption at rest

Gateway volumes and approved cloud stores encrypt recordings; keys follow customer KMS options where required.

Access justifications

Optional reason codes when users open historical video — strengthens insider-threat reviews.

Export governance

Clip export permissions separated from live view — LP can investigate without every manager exporting freely.

No biometric identity store

Detections are behaviour and zone based — not a people-search identity graph.

In-network storage

Primary archive on infrastructure you control

Edge gateways write to local disks or customer SAN/NAS targets so the system of record for CCTV remains inside your firewall. Cloud is a convenience plane for sync — not a forced archive.

Ideal for manufacturing plants, BFSI back offices, and campuses with existing video retention mandates.

Remote does not mean unrestricted

When hybrid sync allows clip fetch, every request can require role, MFA, and logged justification. Time-bound links expire. That is how security teams approve HQ visibility without opening a free-for-all VPN into every camera.

See Security & privacy for organisational policies; Edge enforces the technical residency controls.

FAQ

Common questions

Is Slinai DPDP compliant out of the box?

Slinai provides technical controls (residency modes, RBAC, retention, audit). Your organisation remains the data fiduciary for CCTV under DPDP — we support the operating model.

Can data stay in India if we use cloud?

Yes. India-region hosting options are available for cloud components when hybrid or cloud modes are enabled.

Who owns exported clips?

Your organisation. Exports follow your retention and sharing policy; Slinai logs the export event.

Do you use footage to train public models?

Customer video is not used to train public foundation models. Any improvement learning stays within contracted boundaries.
