What is the Slinai edge gateway?
The Slinai edge gateway is on-site software (appliance or VM) that ingests RTSP/ONVIF streams from your cameras and NVRs, runs video AI locally, manages short-term clip storage, and optionally syncs events to Slinai cloud. It is the foundation for on-prem and hybrid deployments.

Yes, if LAN/WAN latency and bandwidth allow. Large campuses often use one gateway per building or per NVR cluster.
Does the gateway replace the NVR?
No. It complements recorders — NVR keeps its retention role; Slinai adds AI, alerts, and optional hybrid sync.
Who patches the appliance?
Slinai signed updates for appliances; VM customers apply OS patches per IT policy while Slinai updates the application layer.
Is GPU required?
Depends on camera count and detection pack. Small sites can run CPU-only; dense AI packs benefit from GPU.
