Dock load verification: expected packages vs the truck
· Updated · Slinai
Key facts
| Search job | Dock load verification — expected document vs visible units at the bay |
|---|---|
| Same job, both ways | Inbound short landing and outbound short load; overage; freight left on the trailer |
| What video can count | Pallets, cages, and cartons that cross the door in view |
| What still owns the document | WMS, ASN, or load sheet — including every unit inside a sealed carton |
| Not this post | Dock wait time, box throwing, open-box theft, or dark-store pack accuracy |
The load sheet says 24. The trailer leaves with 21. The claim arrives next week.
Dock load verification is the search: expected packages versus what the bay camera saw loaded or unloaded. Slinai joins the document through data & integrations and keeps the clip on existing CCTV. How long the truck sat is dock turnaround. Hub: logistics video analytics.

Inbound and outbound are the same check
| Direction | Expected document | Camera question |
|---|---|---|
| Outbound | Load sheet or dispatch list | Did those units go on before the door closed? |
| Inbound | ASN or expected receipt | Did those units come off before the trailer left? |
| Overage | Either document | Did an extra pallet go on, or come off, that is not on the sheet? |
| Left behind | Either document | Is freight still visible in the trailer when someone calls it done? |
People search this as load verification, shipment shortage, short landing, and proof of loading. Those are one job: the visible units versus the document, at this door, before the driver goes.

Count each pass into that truck
- Put the camera on the door path, not on the stack already inside the trailer.
- Add only what this pass carries. Three cartons on the pallet-truck lever is +3, added to a running total for this one truck.
- Join the WMS line so the alert says “bay 4, this truck loaded 47, load sheet 50,” not “a forklift.”
- Hold the door while the running total and the sheet disagree. A tally written after departure is how short deliveries become claims.

Agentic question that fits: “Which outbound loads left short yesterday?” If the answer is a carrier name with no count and no clip, the manifest was never joined.
A scan tunnel that reads every barcode is a different machine. This guide does not claim one. Dark-store order accuracy is the same honesty on a pack bench: the scan owns the item, the camera owns the missed check.

What this is not
- Not dock turnaround. Time and count are different arguments with the carrier.
- Not open-box pilferage on the logistics hub. A hand in a carton is theft. A missing pallet is a short load.
- Not factory line throughput. A station bottleneck is not a manifest.
- Not a piece count of what is inside a sealed carton. That number stays on the barcode.
Book a demo on one outbound door that already produces shortage claims, plus the load sheet for a single truck.
Common questions
Can the camera count every carton in a stacked trailer?
No. Identical boxes deep in the trailer hide each other. Count handling units the camera can separate: pallets, cages, or cartons as they cross the door. The piece count inside a sealed carton stays on the scan.
Is inbound the same job as outbound?
Yes. Inbound compares the ASN or expected receipt to what came off. Outbound compares the load sheet to what went on. The mismatch types are the same: short, over, or left behind.
Does this replace the tally sheet?
It replaces the argument after the truck leaves. Someone still owns the document. The clip says whether the visible units matched it before the door closed.
Is a short count the same as pilferage?
No. Pilferage is a hand in an open carton. A short count is a missing pallet against the sheet. Investigate theft only when the clip shows it.
Is this dock turnaround time?
No. Turnaround is how long the truck sat. This is whether the load matched. A fast truck can still leave three pallets short.
