Cold chain and FEFO rotation on dark store cameras
· Updated · Slinai
Key facts
| Cold chain (visual) | Door-open dwell, time-outside-zone, restricted-room entry |
|---|---|
| FEFO (visual) | Rotation walk discipline, front-facing new stock, ignored backstock patterns |
| Not this | Replacing calibrated temperature sensors |
| Solution | Safety & compliance |
| Sibling loss | Shrink/after-hours is a different alert route |
A logger will tell you the room warmed. It will not tell you which door stayed open.
This post is process: cold-room discipline and FEFO rotation on existing CCTV. Not shrink, not pick speed. Slinai sits under safety & compliance. Hub: dark stores.

Cold chain: what pixels add to loggers
| Logger | Camera |
|---|---|
| Temperature / humidity | Who opened the door and how long |
| Alarm at threshold | Tote sitting in the aisle “for a minute” |
| Zone ID | Restricted-room entry without a job |
Without video, the stand-up is blame. With video, it is a clip and a SOP rewrite.

FEFO: honest limits
Video can support rotation discipline. It cannot OCR every sticker on a crowded shelf from a cheap dome.
Useful detections:
- New case parked in front of older facing (heuristic + supervisor confirm).
- No one entered a high-expiry aisle during the scheduled walk.
- Hygiene / pest on shelf — hub hygiene module; do not mix with LP in one group.

How this ties to Slinai
- Cluster: accuracy, rider bay
- Security for who can watch a cold-room clip
- Book a demo with door camera + last logger exception
Common questions
Does video measure temperature?
No. Loggers and BMS measure temperature. Video shows door-open, dwell outside the zone, and handling delay that usually explain the spike.
What is FEFO on a camera?
Process drift: new stock in front, ignored backstock, skipped rotation walks. It is not reading every expiry date from a 2MP aisle shot.
Pharma-adjacent stores?
Stricter polygons and access. Same platform, tighter RBAC — see security & privacy.
Same as kitchen cold storage?
Cousin idea. Cloud kitchens have ingredient cold rooms; this post is Q-commerce grocery/pharma dark stores.
First cameras?
Cold-room door plus one high-velocity chilled aisle. Add more when a category owner will act.
